yall a yall
i'm leaving for memphis and i can't wait! i'll be there for a week playing all night long, visiting beautiful stax again, eating at the rendezvous...words cannot describe how excited i am.
and speaking of excited - i have TRACKED the ALBUM!!!! now just a few finishing touches, some beautiful background vocals, a whole lotta spicy tambourine, and then put it all in the blender and mix - presto! sweet soul...i can't believe how real and deep it sounds even at this embryonic point... i love my sweet band and musical friends - thank you michelle josef, john elliot, sean cotton, derek downham, paul reddick, julian fauth, donne robert, arthur kerekes and vandana sharma, kgomotso tsatsi and the parkdale choir, sam cino - and MOST OF ALL david gavan baxter and james paul, the other two sides of the spirit trust triangle.
but you'll have to wait to read the rest of what promise to be copious liner notes. i'm playing at hugh's room on feb. 27th as part of a double bill with lori yates...i'd love if you could come. then off to northern ontario, and a few dates around the south as i get ready to spend the summer touring with claire jenkins avec band. avec fun is more like it.

everyone, hello! i've had a great summer full of fun festivals, travelling with the band, swimming, and readying the new album. i'm going into studio to record starting in september, so look for the new record earlier next year. looks like i'm going to have to reprint 'not a straight line' before then too - yahoo!
in very very very exciting news, i'm going to play MASSEY HALL!!! on december 1st as part of the women's blues revue. this is going to kick some major major butt and i cannot wait. hope you can make it.

too long, too long. so...here's what is new. playing tons and tons of summer festivals. travelling to the east coast with my sweetie just after my birthday. growing green goodness in my garden. starting recording on the next album. just got a national distribution deal for my first record - thanks festival distribution! practising loads with the band, dusting off my swimsuit, just received the new 1000 cds from the factory today and they look so beautiful in their new outfit! still playing with claire, with corin, with the chickenpickers, and with as many new friends as possible.
memphis was unbelievable, so was cuba, so was bc, and so, in its own way, was north bay. cannot wait for cape breton.
oh when will i see you again???
